Sinking Ships - Disconnecting Disconnecting is half an hour of decent (if by the numbers) hardcore. The guitars have a very welcome melodic leaning (see “Ghost Story”) that add the kind of diversity that makes this brand of punk bearable. Hoarse shouted vocals play their part, and are no doubt more heartfelt than a triple bypass. At their more ambitious, they remind me of Modern Life Is War (see “Shadows”), which is no bad thing. Sinking Ships aren’t going to turn the hardcore world on its head, but are a worthy addition nonetheless. yury |
