::: Aaron, drummer in Matchbook Romance was interviewed via email November '03. Questions by Tommy :::

Please introduce yourself/selves?

I am Aaron the percussionist of matchbook romance

So, how are you doing?

Im doin great, its nice to be home for a few days.

How did the band get started?

I met Ryan and andy through a friend and they needed a drummer who was willing to be committed and that was me and basically things just took off from there we played all the local shows we could while i could still attend highschool then a year into it Epitaph contacted us and things just went up from there.

What's the best thing about being in Matchbook Romance?

Having kids come up to me at shows or wherever and tell me how much they love us and how our music is inspiring to them. Thats easily the best part, everyone loves to be acknowledged.

And the worst?

Living in our smelly ass van with my lead singers atomic smelly ass. andy farts and it just lingers in the van and he always manages to do it closest to me.

How would you describe your music?

We are a rock band, this is the hardest question for me to answer. I ve been asked this so many times and i still dont know what to say causae i think our music stretches into a piece of each and every rock genre i can think of, punk/emo/metal so yah.

Who are your favourite bands?

Taking back sunday, New found glory, Blink 182, Im the total pop punker of the band.

Do you feel they have any bearing on the style of music you play?

Yah of course they do they are what I listen to a lot and anything I liisten to, even without me knowing it, can influence what we write thats just how it is writing music.

What are your favourite tracks off the new album?

Playing for keeps and shadows like statues.

What's your view on the current trend of emo/alternative bands signing to majors?

I think if you think you''re band can sell 500,000 records then sign to a major. If you sell 50,000 records on an indie label its considered awesome by indie standards, but its a flop according to major standards. I think a lot of bands lately have been signing to majors way before they are actually ready to, so I think its a gamble.

Would you consider any aspect of your music emo?

yah we have some emo.

Where did the name 'Stories and Alibis' come from?

Andy thought of it when we were recording the album and basically the songs on the album sum up an entire year of our lives. The album is just a collection of different stories and things that went on in the past year.

Describe your live shows in two words.

Intense Jamming

What would be your ideal tour line up?

Taking back sunday, Thrice, Coheed and Cambria, New found glory and MBR that tour would kill dood.

Current favourite records?

Thrice- the artist in the ambulance, Fallout boy- Take this to your grave this cd rules, Yellowcard- ocean avenue.
