Up and coming emo-rockers Brown Eyed Deception were interviewed May ’05. Questions by Wendy, answers by Jacob Kirkegard (bassist) and Cheyne Smith (drummer)...

So I have to ask what persuaded you to name your band brown eyed deception?

Well... our singer, Kyle Lobeck, came up with the idea. It was basically about a girl. Nothing too exciting. Except I think the girl actually had green eyes... hmmm fishy if you ask me.

You guys are still a relatively new band and you’ve already toured so much, do you guys mind being on the road?

We love it. Touring is a blast. It's a dream come true to all of us. It is so amazing waking up somewhere different every day. And just doing it with 5 of your best friends. But yeah, we really like being on the road.

You have a new release coming out care to tell me a little about it?

I'm very excited for this. We have a ton of ideas for it. It's still in the process of being created. But it's going to be different, not in a bad way of course... though I could be bias... No. Be very excited for it.

Do you have any hopes for a label or are you ready to get things done with or without a label?

We umm.....have hopes for a label I guess. We've been doing this for a long time without a label backing us up. But, we are ready to take the next step.

Who are some of the best bands you’ve been able to play with so far?

Oh man, so many. Goodbye Tomorrow, Fear Before the March of Flames, Briertone, InMemory, The Doors, Name Taken, Anatomy of a Ghost, The Higher... for a few. And The Doors comment is not a joke... maybe, no, yes?

You recently lost your guitarist John, are you planning on finding a replacement? Do you already have
one in line?

Yes, we have a replacement planned out. I'll just say he has a really big package.  And really long hair... but not on his package... ew.

What’s one of your favorite places to play?

We love playing The Electric Theater in St. George. Jillian's, Las Vegas. Club Strata in Rexburg. Anywhere in Seattle, that place is so pretty. Wow gay. And Ohio!

Any last words?
