7th Standard - Fire From The Sky (ep)
acquiring their name from a street sign, this sacramento
band have been around for 7 years now. they've released a couple of ep's,
and the album 'in orbit around us', and this 5 track ep represents their
step-up to major label territory. and it's no suprise that their hard
rock, radio friendly sound attracted immortal records.
the guitars are pretty unremarkable here, doing their job in a simple
rhythmatic + driving style; the selling point is jason mahon's melodic
vocals, his vocal hooks dominating each song. "can i rest here inside
of your arms" on 'apologize' is one such example. indeed, the singer's even recieved a 'best male vocalist' sammie (sacramento area music award) for his efforts.
if you like the sound of 'fire from the sky', keep an eye out for the
band on the warped tour this year, and for a full album to follow late
this year...
